Privacy & Data Protection


At Choirs R Us, we take great care to safeguard personal data provided by our choir members and supporters, and to process this data fairly and lawfully in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and the incoming General Data Protection Regulations 2018 (GDPR)


When providing details about yourself you can be confident that:


•Any information you provide to us is confidential and secure

•We will always endeavour to keep accurate and up to date information on you

•We will not share or sell your details to any other organisations

•You have the right to request access to the data we hold on you, and also the right to request we delete that data.

•We will not share your details with third parties unless requested by you, or if we have your permission to do so.

•Jenny Bennett is Choirs R Us Data Protection Officer, responsible for keeping the data safe and secure.


When will I need to provide my details?


Registering to come to a choir session or to join the choir: If you wish to register your interest in the choir or in coming to a choir session, you will need to fill out the contact details on our web page or give details requested by us in an introductory email.


You will need to provide us with your name, email address, address and telephone number. Your details are then stored on our secure Choirs R Us database.


You have the right to request a copy of all data we hold on you, as well as the 'right to be forgotten' (request that all data we hold on you is deleted or anonymised). If you would like to exercise your right to request your data, or be forgotten, please email choirsrus@btinternet.com to let us know and we will implement your request within the required 30 days.


Why do you need my details?

There are several reasons why we need, or would like, to keep your details on record.  We ask you to provide information about yourself for security, identification and verification purposes.  We also collect and analyse demographic information.  Choirs R Us will retain information collected about you for as long as is permitted for legitimate business purposes and to meet any legal obligations.


If you are a choir member, we need your details so us to keep you informed of news, activities, rehearsals, concerts, and to also send you clips and lyrics for the songs.  We also use your details to test new services offered, to gauge interest in new opportunities and general marketing.


If you are an ex-member or someone who has expressed interest or support in the choir, we use the information to send you details of concerts, performances  and other events that you might like to come to.


In accordance with the incoming GDPR regulations, we are obliged to retain documented evidence of individuals opting in to receive communications from us, either electronically, on paper or face to face. This data is filed in our Choirs R Us database.


Cookies

We do not use cookies on our website, as we do not have a public log in system in use.  We link to the following external website:


One.com – this is our web host which holds our domain names: choirsrus.co.uk and choirsrus.com, and we use their analytical tool to understand how the site is being used in order to improve it for our users by making it easier to use and more accessible. User data is all anonymous.


External web content

Sometimes we embed content on our website from YouTube in the form of videos.  This service may collect statistics and information on use of the embedded content, so please check their specific privacy policies.
